Memorial tournament held in Zangakatun in memory of two heroes of 44-day war
A mini-football memorial tournament was held in Zangakatun, a village in the Ararat community of the Ararat region, organized by the World Council of Churches Armenia Round Table Foundation, Ararat Municipality, and the Masyatsoten Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church. The tournament was dedicated to the memory of Hrachik Tadevosyan and Levon Martirosyan, who sacrificed their lives in the 44-day war.
Two football teams of 12-13-year-olds from Paruyr Sevak and Zangakatun, operating with the support of the Round Table Foundation, participated in the tournament. The Vazgen Sargsyan team of Ararat and the Araks team of Ararat, led by football coach Edik Ziroyan, were also invited.
The participants were greeted by Artur Isajanyan, Head of the Department of Development Programs, Education, Sports, Culture, Youth, and Healthcare of the Ararat Municipality, Harutyun Karapetyan, Program Officer of the Round Table Foundation, Tigran Armenakyan, Director of the Ararat Sports School, and Hovik Karapetyan, Administrative Head of Zangakatun.
At the end of the day, the tournament results were summarized, and the winning teams and their placements were announced:
1st Place – Vazgen Sargsyan team of Ararat;
2nd Place – Paruyr Sevak team;
3rd Place – Araks team of Ararat.
Among the participants, Garik Mkhitaryan was awarded “Best Goalkeeper,” Gor Khachatryan: “Best Defender,” Artyom Davtyan: “Best Midfielder,” Hrach Abrahamyan: “Best Forward,” and Aram Khachatryan: “Best Scorer.” Participants received cups, medals, and certificates from the Round Table Foundation.
