Adopt a Family

Since August 2016 Armenia Round Table Foundation launched an ACT Alliance funded project in close cooperation of ACT Armenia Forum members – ECLOF Foundation and UMCOR Foundation and in assistance of “Aleppo” NGO. The project aims at integration and psycho-social support of Syrian Armenians in Armenia.

On 14-15 February 2017, ECLOF Foundation initiated a two day meeting for newly arrived 20 families from Syria in the frameworks of “Adopt a Family” component. About 50 people from more than 23 refugee Syrian-Armenian families participated in the meeting. The invited experts discussed and presented the following items introducing their own life-stories:

• Traditions, lifestyle, language and the difference between the forms of expression;
• Educational, medical aid systems in Armenia;
• How to adapt and adjust to the new environment.
  

“Adopt a Family” component aims at providing help and guidance to newly arrived families promoting integration though regular interaction; guiding them with practical advice, emergency assistance and response to general queries; organizing sight-seeing, cultural and social activities.

Next day Syrians met and talked to Experts from business, banking, labor issues and the field of education, which gave giving them the opportunity to make new contacts and learn more about the local environment. On 21 February, the families will have a tour to Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, visit St.Gayane and St. Shoghakat Churches, have lunch together.
