New Performance At The Cross Of Armenian Unity

New Performance At The Cross Of Armenian Unity
On November 13, the Fairy Tale Theatrical House of the Cross of Armenian Unity staged a performance on the plot of the fairy tale by Grimm Brothers “Cinderella.” The director of the stage, Gevorg Babakhanyan, gave a new breath to the performance by flavoring the play with the appearance of Armenian national fairy tale hero, which as opined by one of the young actors of the theatre “gave freshness to the fairy tale and made it amusing.”
The performance was a new play for the group. It was watched by an audience made of invitees-representatives of Cultural Department of Mayor Office of Etchmiadzin, clergy and laymen from different departments of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the ART, “Shoghakat” TV company, teachers and pupils of Etchmiadzin secondary schools.
At the end of the performance His Grace Bishop Sahak Mashalyan, Dean of the Theological Seminary of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, in his blessing speech to the audience and the young actors of the theatre touched the symbolic message in the “Cinderella” saying that in the deep of our hearts all of us have a psychology of a Cinderella. The Bishop mentioned that one should never give way to despair, one should have a dream and abiding faith in its realization.
The Fairy Tale House of the CAU was established in 2004 in the frames of “Culture as a tool for child development and socialization” project implemented with the support of ART. The project aimed at contributing to children’s development and their socialization by educating and upbringing through the culture. The project also contributed to broadening of children’s outlook and increased their self-esteem and confidence.
The theatrical group is attended at present by 30 children and young people of 8-18 years of age. In 2007 the ART supported another project named “Education through the culture,” which improved the building condition of the theatre by partly renovating it, providing it with technical supplies and a mobile children’s theatre van, which takes young actors’ troupe to far villages to stir cultural life there, so that rural communities where children lack an opportunity to partake in cultural events and occasions become attended as well. The theatrical group intends to frequently perform plays. Announcements will be posted in due time through Cultural Department of the Mayor Office of Etchmiadzin, local secondary schools of Etchmiadzin, etc.
