Involvement And Role Of Armenian Apostolic Church In HIV And Drug Prevention, And Pastoral Support To People Living With HIV And Injective Drug Users
Within the framework of the project “HIV Prevention, Care and Support to People Living with HIV in Armenia” Armenia Round Table Foundation organized a three-day conference in December, 2011 in Tsaghkadzor with the participation of 20 clergies from all the Dioceses of Armenian Apostolic Church in Armenia. The conference aimed at developing an annual plan for promoting active involvement of Armenian clergy in HIV and drug prevention, provision of pastoral care and support to People Living with HIV and Injective Drug Users. The meeting was also a platform for information and experience sharing, and collection of the best practices. Considering the experience of running a Church Day Center for PLHIV in Yerevan, the participants also prioritized establishment of a Church Rehabilitation Center for Injective Drug Users.
