Exhibition on Armenian Genocide Opens in Geneva

On September 2, an exhibition entitled “Because I live, ye shall live also” (John 14:19) devoted to the first genocide of the twentieth century, the Armenian Genocide, was opened in the Ecumenical Centre of Geneva. The event was organized with the collaboration of the Archives Division, of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and the Armenia Inter-Church Charitable Round Table Foundation, in collaboration with World Council of Churches.

Thematic posters and booklets were presented to the visitors providing a summary of historical information about Armenia and the Armenian people, and their age-old struggle for the Homeland and faith. Presented were also archival documentaries and photos related to the Genocide, articles printed in the pages of the world press, testimony evidence given by the survivors of the Genocide, letters from the heads of the Christian Churches, and announcements by different nations and international organizations recognizing and condemning the Armenian Genocide.

Within the scopes of the exhibition included were also archival articles published for the first time, such as the letters of the Patriarch of Constantinople. The moderators of the opening of the exhibition were Father Mesrop Parsamian, Locum Tenens of the Armenian Diocese in Marseille and Southern France, and Prof. Dr. Isabel Apawo Phiri, Associate General Secretary of the World Council of Churches.

The exhibit of materials devoted to the Armenian Genocide will be open until the end of September and in the future such exhibitions will be organized in other countries as well.
