New phase of “Civic Education in Shirak region” project

The WCC Armenia Round Table Foundation launched the new phase of the 2024 “Civic Education in Shirak region” project to promote youth initiatives and youth involvement in community life.

In this regard, with the support of the management staff of Gyumri “Khachmeruk” social-educational consulting center foundation, with the participation of young people from Gyumri and different communities of Shirak region, a coordination meeting was held in the mentioned center in order to present the project by the representative of the ART and to clarify the issues that concern the young people.

The young people were informed that a series of courses and meetings will be organized on relevant topics aimed at developing programme work capacities, after which they will have the opportunity to present their own project-proposals for awareness raising and solution for community problems, the best of which will be selected for implementation with the support of the WCC ART.

A needs assessment was also carried out, the young people spoke about the problems that concern them stressing that they would like to work for their settlement, and also mentioned other appropriate topics of the courses to be organized by the foundation for them.

Then the representative of the foundation, together with Gohar Galtagazyan, responsible for the youth union of the diocese, visited Azatan community, where she met the young people of the 2023 phase of the mentioned project. They were divided into 2 teams participating in 2 different courses devoted to development of computer and sewing skills.

The project is implemented within the framework of the three-year action plan of the WCC ART in cooperation with the “Bread for the world” (Brot für die Welt).
