Children Celebrating Palm Sunday

This is the second year the Department of Christian Education of the mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin with the support of ART and its partner Diakonisches Werk, Germany, with the blessings of his Holliness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, initiated celebrations of Palm Sunday with the involvement of 20.000 children from 400 kindergartens throughout Armenia.
All the functioning kindergartens were involved in the programme. Tutors with support of parents organized matinees involving children from senior groups of kindergartens performing the traditions and peculiarities of the Holy events: Palm Sunday and the Easter.
Parish priests gave welcome and comprehensive introduction of the feast, cheered children with colorful leaflets, distributed posters on the feast with pictures of Jesus entry to Jerusalem and narrative description of the day largely to kindergartens throughout Armenia.
Through their recites, songs and dances and decorations in the kindergartens children expressed their impressions and understanding of the feast. In-house celebrations and joy of the day were further taken to kindergartens and families. The initiated will foster the formation and education of spiritual-Christian values in teaching the young generation.
