ACT Alliance Governing Board in Yerevan

ACT Alliance Governing Board in Yerevan

These days Dr. Karen Nazaryan, Executive Director of the Armenia Round Table Foundation is taking part in the annual meeting of the ACT Alliance Governing Board. The event is hosted in Armenia at the invitation of the Armenia Round Table Foundation (the ART) that is a member of ACT Alliance and a member of the Governing Board. The ART has long years of engagement with the ACT Alliance and is a convener of the ACT Armenia Forum, a platform for collaboration and coordination of activities by three ecumenical partners in Armenia – the ART, UMCOR and ECLOF.

The meeting, that started on May 10 and will continue through May 13, will focus on a number of governance related issues, including refreshing the membership framework and revision of the policy regulating the activity of the ACT Forums at national, regional and global levels to deliver a more robust and effective alliance. On May 12 the Governing Board visited Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, where they were received by His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, who warmly greeted the mission and the work implemented by ACT Alliance. Later Dr Nazaryan invited the group to the working premises of the ART where they were welcomed by the ART staff.

ACT Alliance is a coalition of 140 churches and faith-based organizations working together in over 100 countries and is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. The Alliance works to bring about positive and sustainable change in the lives of poor and marginalized people through humanitarian response, development and advocacy.

In the beginning of April, 2016 ACT Alliance was among the first organizations responding quickly to the needs of people who suffered from the massive violations of truce in Nagorno Karabagh. At the initiative of the ACT Armenia Forum and thanks to the ACT Alliance’s financial support around 800 internally displaced people from the areas affected by the conflict have already received packages of food and hygienic items. This help will continue.
