A Green Day For Armenia Round Table
On April 8, 2011 cheerful voices of youth and school-children filled in the Nersisyan Forest in Etchmiadzin town. About 45 people, the ART staff, volunteers from “Cross of Armenian Unity” NGO and students of # 5 Senior School after M. Gorki gathered to participate in a tree planting organized by the ART. The event was a logical continuation of the activities supported by the ART within its commitment to foster the improvement of Nersisyan forest.
In the beginning the participants received a short counseling on the basics of tree planting by the agronomist of Mother See that aimed at ensuring the enhanced efficiency of the activity. Then everyone was involved in the work. Shovels were dancing and carefully placing each seedling into the hole. Eyes sparkled with enthusiasm, special vivacity seized those who first time took part in such a symbolic event and planted a tree on their own.
Tree planting was hardly finished when it began drizzling. Reluctantly the participants had to leave the forest still animated and absorbed in talk. The Nersisyan forest regained its serenity, and the rain was pouring and pouring, welcoming the coming of 31 saplings to their new home.
