“Growing Through Mutual Sharing And Learning — A Unique Chance For Visible Change In The Lives Of Everybody” — Mobile Workshop In Armenia
Upon invitation of Armenia Round Table a mobile workshop was held by interdiac through April 11– 15, 2011 in a physics-mathematics school in Yerevan.
Interdiac (International Academy for Diaconia and Social Action, Central and Eastern Europe, o.p.s.) is a non-profit educational organization that promotes learning, networking, research and development for diaconia and social action in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. ART became a partner of interdiac in November of 2009.
It was the third and final workshop within the educational programme of interdiac with two previous ones held in Serbia and Georgia in 2010. This workshop brought together 17 people from Eastern and Central European countries — mainly youth engaged in social and diaconal work.
During a week time participants discussed the theme of social exclusion and empowerment, shared experiences and reflected on methods of work with young people from disadvantaged social backgrounds and their involvement in society. The workshop explored the use of the newly published interdiac Handbook “Make Change Yourselves.” On April 13th presentations were made by “Gyumri Social-Educational Centre” of Shirak Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church and “Zangakatoun” Benevolent NGO over community and youth work models and practices. An open afternoon followed with introductions of experiences by workshop participants. At both sessions sharing of learning points and best practices took place between Armenian civil society organizations and international workshop participants. Apart from in-class activities and schooling, participants learned about Armenia through social evenings and sightseeing tours.
