“Diaconal Social Service“Training For Clergy
A training titled “Diaconal Social Service” was invited by World Vision Armenia and Armenia Round Table Foundation through April 4 to 6, 2011 in Tsaghkadzor Guest House, Armenia.
Clergy from all Dioceses of Armenia and Artsakh Diocese participated in the training. Welcome remarks were given by His Grace Bishop Hovakin Manukyan, Head of Inter-church Relations Department of the Mother See, Ms Karine Harutunyan, Church and Government Relation Manager from World Vision Armenia and Dr Karen Nazaryan, Executive Director of Armenia Round Table. Presentations and introductions to the following headings were given by His Grace Bishop Hovakim Manukyan “Diaconia in the tradition of the Armenian Apostolic Church, past and present,” Rev. Fr. Gevorg Saroyan “Theological and moral concept on HIV-AIDS” and “Ecological ethics,” Fr. Dajad Davidyan “Diaconal service in communities,” Rev. Fr. Vardan Navasardyan “Spiritual education and diaconal projects,” Rev. Fr. Ruben Zargaryan “Diaconia in the Bible.” A comprehensive training on project cycle management including project design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, budget preparation and reporting was delivered by Armenia Round Table staff.
The training knowledge will be transferred into small-scale project proposals, which will be developed by the training participants and submitted to Armenia Round Table and World Vision, the successful proposals will be considered for support and implementation carried out in respective communities by the clergy.
