As of February 2025, debate and knowledge clubs have been established in the communities of Amasia and Ashotsk in Shirak province, Armenia. These clubs, established with the support of the WCC Armenia Round Table Foundation, provide high school students with opportunities to develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and debating techniques.<\/p>\n

The initiative aims to enhance logical reasoning, analytical abilities, and public speaking skills among students through debate and intellectual activities. The clubs serve as an alternative extracurricular educational platform for students who lack similar opportunities within their communities.<\/p>\n

The program follows a structured approach, including the selection of experts and facilitators, team meetings and needs assessment, development of discussion topics and schedules, selection of participants, conducting club sessions, organizing in-school and inter-school competitions, hosting a final debate tournament and intellectual competition, and publishing resources for club activities.<\/p>\n

The sessions incorporate both theoretical knowledge and practical exercises, allowing participants to apply what they learn in real-world scenarios. The practical tasks focus on enhancing students\u2019 abilities in argument construction, logical reasoning, and effective articulation of ideas.<\/p>\n

By the end of the program, students will have a strong grasp of various debating techniques and intellectual games, improved ability to analyze and verify facts critically, enhanced teamwork and public speaking skills, the ability to efficiently use primary sources and media literacy tools, and strengthened logical reasoning skills applicable in multiple fields.<\/p>\n

The program is led by a group of experienced professionals, including Seyran Martirosyan, President of “Khoran Ard” Intellectual Center and Member of the International Association of “What? Where? When?” Clubs, Hamlet Ghazaryan, President of “Vanand” Community NGO, Gevorg Petrosyan, President of “Biosophia” Environmental NGO, Luiza Zakeyan, Representative of the Sakharov Center and Debate Club Coordinator, Hrayr Hakobyan, Engineer-Inventor, Agapi Manukyan, Media Expert, and Armen Petrosyan, Executive Director of “Khoran Ard” Intellectual Center and Member of the International Association of “What? Where? When?” Clubs.<\/p>\n

The clubs in Amasia and Ashotsk mark a significant step toward strengthening the intellectual and analytical capacities of students, fostering an environment where education extends beyond the classroom into a space of creative thought and debate.<\/p>\n
