A New Performance By Fairy Tale House

"Unlived life," a pantomime led by a deaf-and-mute lady attending theater and carpet study groups in "Cross of Armenian Unity" NGO was performed on December 22, 2007.

Philosophical insight of mixed emotions attached to choice making and being strong-minded at decisive moments of life were transformed with utmost sensitivity and compassion. The audience encored young actors and spoke highly of the performance.

Since 2004 the ART and the NGO have cooperated over "Culture as a tool for child development and socialization" project, within frames of which particular emphasis is given to education through arts. Theatre group of the NGO has become particularly popular and staged different plays on national and famous worldwide fairy tales with participation of young actors. Children are enthusiastic about theatre activities. "It was a pleasure to perform today and feel so much welcomed," said Nara, leading actor of the pantomime.

The day continued with staging of another play by famous Armenian story-teller Hovhanness Toumanian, a small concert by dancing and singing groups followed by a ceremony of raising a flag of "Children first" NGO on the fairy tail house tour which holds flags of the NGO and Armenia Round Table as the supporter of the house and its activities.

The day concluded a joyful party which was cheered by sweets from His Holiness Catholicos Karekin II and gifts from "Children first" NGO.

Representatives of National Institute of Education, Toufenkian Foundation, "Children first" NGO and Armenia Round Table, deaf and mute people assisted by a translator, who was a gesture language teacher of pantomime actor, many children and parents attended the event and, as shared, were impressed by the performance and enjoyed the day.
