One Week Training On Emergency Aid Preparedness At Crisis Management State Academy
The regular training within the framework of Emergency Aid Preparedness project took place on May 19-23 at the Crisis Management State Academy with the participation of 26 trainees who represented Dioceses of Gegharkunik, Aragatsotn, Kotayk, Shirak and Armavir of AAC and a number of NGOs, partners of ART and UMCOR: “Cross of Armenian Unity,” “Caravan–88,” “Sustainable Development in Communities,” “Youth Union of Karakert,” “Shen,” “Youth of Jrvej,” “YMCA-Armenia,” “Zangakatun” and “Future is Yours.
This time participants were divided into two groups in order to study better the skills of the first aid. Besides the first aid the training touched upon important themes like legal basis regulating the emergency situations in the Republic of Armenia and the role of the relevant agencies in the sphere, terrorism as an emergency and hostage behavioral patterns, protection of the civilian population and national economy from the negative consequences of emergencies and others. First aid mainly was practical activities/drills, rehearsals/ which raised great enthusiasm of the participants, and considered most important by them.
At the end of the training the participants chose topics to develop essays/dissertations to present at the end of the project.
On May 23, a field visit was organised to Voghjaberd where the training participants studied the emergency situations as a result of the landslides.
It is stated by the Academy lacquerers, too, that training participants were very active, the lectures were listened with great interest and care, trainees showed serious concern about the issues raised, they pelted the professors with numerous questions, organised hot discussions, and sharing their personal experience with one another. The training took place in a vivid, warm and friendly atmosphere that contributed greatly to the effectiveness of the work.
At the end of the training 26 people, who established kind and intimate relationships during those five days, parted with the expectation for the next meeting in June.
