We Love Children

We Love Children
The computer center of Kotayk Diocece was established in 2001. Two hundred and eighty-nine children attended basic computer training course and certificated since then. In 2007 the computer center was involved in “Sustainability of computer Centers” programme launched by Armenia Round Table.
Within the “Children’s Day” site staff Araksya Tadevosyan and study group students of the computer center of Kotayk Diocece organized presentation of an event “We Love Children” on June 4, 2008. During the four-week training courses, the trainees obtained essential skills in the use of computers and undertook the preparation work of the event. Students were more importantly provided the opportunity to explore the endless resources of internet to develop materials for the Power Point presentation.
During the presentation Tehmine Virabyan, one of the study group activists, over-viewed the history of the last century with its disasters with an emphasis on children’s lives during wars and in peace to the audience, how they suffer from abuse and exploitation, family violation. Thousands of children all over the world suffer separation from their families, hunger and sickness, loss of their sense of human dignity and identity, loss of their freedom of movement and the bitterness of being deceived, and marginalized. Despite of all these children deserve care and love. The presenters consider important to be educated and informed in order to give a hand to the peers. The presentation was followed by music and congratulations.
This kind of work in the computer center fosters not only the students’ computer literacy and language skills but also creative and analytical thinking, new methods of learning, teamwork and team-building, integration of Information Technologies into society. Also the students are able to share their experiences with their colleagues and peers. “We need to organize and participate in such events often. People are not used to expressing their feelings, speaking and sharing. We learned a lot from participation in this presentation, became more active and informed. It taught us to be courageous and helpful, care for and bring up our children. Computer trainings improved our knowledge and skills, taught working with and in a team. I am also glad that your project gives an opportunity not only the students but all age and target groups of society” said Ms Virabyan.
