Conciliation Of The Old And The New
A special event "Conciliation of the Old and the New" was organized in the computer center of "Cross of Armenian Unity" Cultural-Educational NGO on June 27, 2008. The event had a very attracting solution: A "computer-man" and an artist symbolizing the old and the new welcomed the guests at the computer center where the traditional units – handicraft carpets, paintings, photographs, old-fasioned things combined with the modern – computers. The organizers made a Power Point Presentation that overviewed the history, activities and the goal of the Computer School, development and technology use by the trainers and users.
Several documentary video films were shown using the technical equipment of the center, software (Studio and Nero programmes) and endless resources of the Internet. Those films were produced by ART and UMCOR fundings. A film in Biology and Genetics was about development of mankind and the influence of technology over the human being, "Trafficking", "Don’t Leave"- migration issues, " Environment Pollution" — ecology issues, and other video films that touch social, spiritual and nature problems. The aim of the films was to touch upon the problems of society.
Working mainly with the youth and vulnerable groups of society the trainers always promote the use of technology as a tool in education and create conditions for innovative approaches in education. The participants and guests filled in questionnaires after the demonstration of video films that aimed to learn their opinions about the uses of technology nowadays.
After the stormy discussions some of the guests summarized the presentations of the Information Technology use in different fields nowadays, its integration into society, mentioning the importance of respecting and keeping national traditions. Internet research gives the president, Grigor Babakhanyan, and the other employees of the NGO new opportunities for professional development and incentive for NGO-Community partnerships.
"God created the perfect, and people always try to get the perfect. In their strive to better the lives of people the NGO included their deliberations in a documentary. The themes touched in these films are so actual and important that can easily replace the soap-operas on television and make people more aware and informed" summarized the video films produced by Samvel Babakhanyan.
