“Infogitak” In Gyumri
After an orientation meeting and a months preparation work, on 17 May, 2011,the site staff of the Computer Center of AAC Shirak Diocese Social-Educational Center implemented a project named “Infogitak” in its Resource center and in the frames of “Computer Literacy for Everyone and Development of Computer Centers”. The initiation aimed to foster the importance of Information Technologies in nowadays, reveal all the tools of MS office programmes and their complete use.
The competition brought together 28 students from 28 Gyumri Secondary and High Schools to compete in 4 computer disciplines: Touch Typing, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and the Internet – for each task the participants were given from 10 to 30 minutes.
Each of the disciplines considered 3 nominations for the most knowledgeable participants, who were awarded prizes from the partners and sponsors: Bishop Mikayel Ajapahyan the primate of Shirak Diocese, Armenia Round Table, Department of Education of Shirak Municipality, Computer Centers and computer shops in Gyumri.
The grand prize, a black and white “Genius” printer from “Compline”, was awarded to a student of Gyumri Secondary School #19 — Susanna Davtyan. Also, 12 students were awarded with different prizes from “Genius”, CJS “Grisha Shahparonyan” and Armenia Round Table.
This was an encouraging initiation that gave positive impressions to the participant students, their parents, teachers and organizers of the competition, and made the participants understand the importance of information technologies in the lives of people who want to be progressive and achieve success in career development nowadays.
