“The ART Consultancy Skills Development” Workshop
The ART Consultancy Skills Development Programme has been developed by Framework in collaboration with the Armenia Round Table as part of its commitment to the capacity development of Civil Society in Armenia. Framework is one of the longest established specialist consultancy organizations in the UK working exclusively with non-profit organizations. Strengthening ART’s consultancy skills is supported by a commitment to professional integrity, partner empowerment, social justice and equality.
A training titled “The ART Consultancy Skills Development” was held in the frames of the programme through November 29 to December 2, 2011 in Yerevan, Armenia. ART senior staff and representatives of ART partner organizations – NGOs “Women for Development”, “Education for Sustainable Development”, “Shen” and YMCA Armenia participated in the training. ART staff use a consultancy approach with many of their local partner organizations as part of the capacity building support they provide in programme work. However, it is being made available to others outside ART itself in order to provide an opportunity for specialist training to other organizations, and to create a diverse mix of participants thereby expanding the possibilities for peer learning and experience-sharing.
During these days the training participants improved organizational performance primarily through the analysis of existing organizational problems; learned of an expanded toolkit of methods and techniques that could be used in their day-to-day consultancy work; and be more able to ?read’ organizations and teams, help them to analyze their needs, and develop strategies for effective change.
The four day workshop provided a dynamic and practical programme of activities and presentations helping the participants to develop and apply their consultancy skills, and draft a clear plan for further professional development as a consultant.
