Opportunities And Privileges Of Organic Agriculture Practices In Armenia
The workshop was organized in the framework of ART Sustainable Mountain Development Project, and aimed at introducing the approach and experience of organic agriculture to the representatives of Civic Action Groups and Local Authorities from five mountain rural communities of Gegharkunik Province, Armenia.
The workshop was held by Dr. Nune Darbinyan, General Director of ECOGLOBE Organic Certification Body, who introduced organic plant cultivation, organic animal breeding and bee keeping, production of medicinal plants, and other practices that can be applicable and sustainable in the context of mountain specifics.
Considering the rich biodiversity of Armenia, the diverse eco-systems of mountain landscapes, the workshop explored the possible opportunities existing today in the International Organic Market and the demand in the local market, the process of organic certification in the country and the assistance to the organic farmers.

As a follow-up to the workshop, technical assistance will be provided to the targeted communities to establish model organic trials.
