Microsoft RA Supports ART Staff Capacity Building In Information Technologies
The beginning of new millennium mentions a new phase of human civilization. One of its peculiarities is the unprecedented growth of the role of the Information Computer Technologies in our lives that enable the multiplication of nowadays knowledge and spiritual values, expand the practice of achievements in the sphere of Science and Technology.
Through March 23-24, 2012, in partnership with Microsoft Armenia two day training was organized for Armenia Round Table staff to support their capacity building in information technologies. The training was organized at the Microsoft Innovation Center in the State Engineering University of Armenia (SEUA) where the twelve participants gathered to expand their knowledge and skills under the wise guidance of Arthur Zaprossian, professor and director of Microsoft IT Academy in SEUA and AG Academy.
The aim of this activity was to improve operational knowledge in the sphere of modern technologies and building capacities of the staff. The professional equipment – latest technologies and software’s from the leading industry vendors present at the Microsoft Innovation Centre – facilitated the learning process. The training mainly focused on MS Windows 7, MS Office 2010 programmes. The first day was dedicated to Microsoft Word with the second day focusing on Excel as well as an introduction to the use of an integrated programming environment “Visual Basic for Application” in MS Excel 2010. At the end of the first day the trainees passed a test on Microsoft Word that recorded their achievements in the particular course. In parallel with the very specific skills in the selected programmes, the trainer also provided very comprehensive information on the overall information technology world and recent developments.
Microsoft Armenia is the only organization that supports Armenia Round Table with its “Computer Literacy for Everyone and Sustainable Development of the Computer Centers” programme. In cooperation with the education department and particularly with the support of the Country Director Grigor Barseghyan ART initiated and implemented different projects, trainings, such as: “My Native Land” – a competition among the youth from 9 computer centers from different regions, in 2009; “Training for the Trainers” – an 8 day ToT for 11 trainers of the computer centers of the above mentioned project, 2011; etc.
