“Basics of project management” training course
Launch of 5 small grant projects
As we had informed before ART initiated “Programme work skills development” study course, which consists of three modules. The first module “Development of competitive project proposal” was organized on November 27-30, 2012. As it was proposed the participants of the training course using their knowledge and skills developed project proposals and applied for funding from ART. The screening committee selected five of nine proposals based on specific criteria. The five projects are funded by ART.
Before starting the implementation of the projects, the managers had lacked some skills and knowledge on project management. For this purpose the second module of “Programme work skills development” study course was organized. The topic of the training course was “Basics of project management”. The training course was held in the conference hall of “Devout generation” foundation through February 27 — March 1, 2013. The training was conducted by Gharib Harutyunyan, ART Monitoring and evaluation officer.
The trainer delivered skills and knowledge on each stage of project lifecycle. Particularly, the training introduced the keys to successful projects, reasons of failure, the necessary skills needed for being a successful project manager, the importance and methods of conducting baseline studies, the method of SWOT and stakeholders’ analysis as a tool of project management. Mr. Harutyunyan also presented in detail the methods of implementing participatory monitoring and evaluation, the documentation and reporting procedures of the projects and other actual topics. One part of the training course was conducted by Elmira Madoyan, ART executive accountant, who presented the essence of project budget, and the financial procedures of ART.
The participants got the opportunity to evaluate the topics, the quality and effectiveness of trainers’ work and the level of daily organization of the training.
After gaining new theoretical knowledge and practical skills on project management, the participants got back to their organisations and started implementing the small grant projects funded by ART.
