6th Panarmenian Olympiad on Armenian studies

Through August 9-15, 2013, almost 150 schoolchildren from Republic of Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenian Diaspora participated in 6th Panarmenian Olympiad on Armenian studies, orgnised in Tsaghkadzor as a result of a successful cooperation between Armenian Ministry of Education and Science, National Institute of Education and Christian Education Department of Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

The aim of the Olympiad was to promote knowledge of Armenian language, literature, history and culture among the children of Armenian Diaspora, to help them get acquainted with Armenia and get tied to the Armenian Apostolic Church and fatherland.

With the blessing of His Holiness Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, 54 schoolchildren participated in a competition on Armenian Church History, which was organized within the frames of the Olympiad. for the first time. The opening ceremony Panarmenian 6th Olympiad took place in Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall, after, the participants made their way to Tsaghkadzor. Besides of the scientific competitions, the agenda of the Olympiad also foresaw activities like training on Armenian folk dance, lectures on culture and history, pilgrimages to the sacred places and visits to the sights of Armenia – organised with the financial support of Armenia Round Table.

The results of the Panarmenian 6th Olympiad and the Armenian Church History competition were summarized during the award ceremony on August 14, which proved, that Panarmenian Olympiad has long become one of the important Armenian traditions, encouraging and uniting young Armenians, interested in Armenian studies and scientific subjects, from all over the world.
