“I care” (COP 19 in Warsaw)
Armenia Round Table is a member of ACT Alliance Advisory Group on Climate Change Advocacy aimed at advocating a number of key issues related to climate change. One of the main activities of the advisory group is participation in COPs. UNFCCC COPs take place annually to discuss various aspects related to the climate change. UNFCCC COP19 (19th Conference of Parties of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change) took place in Warsaw, Poland, in November of 2013 with participation of more than 15 000 people: governmental delegations of countries, non-governmental sector and international media. ACT Alliance was represented by its members throughout the world, including Karine Baghdasaryan from Armenia Round Table, who was also member of the Armenia official delegation. Advisory Group on Climate Change Advocacy (AGCCA) of ACT Alliance actively participated in it trying to influence delegations of their respective countries in issues related to climate change which is a serious challenge for the future of mankind, especially for development of poor countries.
Impressive were actions of civil society organisations, such as walk out of conference and shouting of many NGOs demonstrating the need of urgent and fair decisions for solving burning issues of climate change.
Close work within the Armenian delegation represented by Mrs. Diana Harutyunyan from UNDP Climate Change Unit, Mr. Simon Papyan, RoA Deputy Minister of Nature Protection and Mr. Aram Gabrielyan, UNFCCC National Focal Point helped ACT Alliance to know more about the negotiations process.
Pan-Gi Moon, UN General Secretary, Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk honored the meeting with their presence.
