“Basics of project management” training course
As we had informed before ART initiated “Programme work skills development” study course, which consists of three modules. The first module “Development of competitive project proposal” was organized on May 27-30, 2014. As it was proposed, the participants of the training course using their knowledge and skills developed project proposals and applied for funding from ART. The screening committee selected two of seven proposals based on specific criteria. The two projects are funded by ART.
Before starting the implementation of the projects, the managers had lacked some skills and knowledge on project management. For this purpose the second module of the study course was organized. The topic of the training course was “Basics of project management”. The training course was held in the conference hall of ART foundation through 8-10 July, 2014. The training was conducted by ART Monitoring and evaluation officer Gharib Harutyunyan, and programme officer Tsovinar Ghazaryan.
The trainers delivered skills and knowledge on each stage of project lifecycle. Particularly, the training introduced the keys to successful projects, reasons of failure, the necessary skills needed for being a successful project manager, the importance and methods of conducting baseline studies, the method of stakeholders’ analysis as a tool of project management. The trainers also presented in detail the methods of implementing participatory monitoring and evaluation, the documentation and reporting procedures of the projects and other actual topics.
The projects which were selected for support from ART were selected as study cases for the training course. The implementation of the two projects will start at August 1, 2014.
